GRAIN & GLOW PHOTOGRAPHY - FAMILY
Natural, relaxed and child-led - capturing the essence of who they are
OXFORDSHIRE FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER
The years that slip by almost un-noticed.
there are moments throughout their childhood that get gently tucked away into the memory boxes of our minds, moments we know we’ll never want to forget. the things that once felt like an ordinary part of life quietly slip away and find themselves replaced with something new. wispy tendrils of hair become thick waves spilling down their backs, the words they once mispronounced now perfectly roll of their tongue and their wrists and ankles once filled with creases and rolls turn in to limbs so long you can barely pick them up anymore.
documenting your family is a way of holding on to a little bit of it. not perfect smiles or a performance for the camera, but your family, exactly as they are right now. A chance to slow down, be fully present with one another and create something that will bring you back here, long after they have grown.
Fiercely wild or quiet and close - let them be.
Family photography doesn’t have to mean rows of reluctant smiles towards the camera. Childhood was never meant to be kept still. It’s movement and mischief, hands that explore and feet that almost outrun you.
“Anything goes” is my mantra. During the hour or two we spend together, there is no expectation for your children to perform or be anyone but themselves. We’ll wander, explore and play, allowing them the freedom to lead us towards the moments that feel most like your family. They can run, climb, hide, be loud, stay close or take all the time they need to find their feet.
I’ll be there to gently guide you, offering simple prompts and little sparks of play whenever they are needed, but never forcing a moment that doesn’t belong to you. My approach to family photography is relaxed and unhurried, leaving space for the beautiful, fleeting things that happen when nobody is trying too hard.
Whether we meet in the hazy evening light for an outdoor family photography session in the sprawling Oxfordshire countryside, or settle into the familiar rhythms of an in-home family session, we’ll choose the place where your family feels most free to be itself. Come exactly as you are - the chaos, the tenderness and everything in between. Together, we’ll create photographs that hold not only what this chapter looked like, but what it felt like to live inside it.

I always recommend choosing outfits that feel comfortable, timeless and true to you. Soft neutrals, earthy tones and subtle textures tend to photograph beautifully and complement both the landscape and my editing style. Once you’re booked, I’ll send over a styling guide to help you choose outfits that work well together without feeling overly matched.

Yes and no.
My style is more prompted than posed. Rather than asking you to hold stiff poses, I’ll give you and your little ones things to do instead.
Think: “Can you show Mummy the flower?”, “Can you and your big brother race back to Mum and Dad?”, or “Can Daddy have a big bear hug from behind?”
That said, I’m always looking out for the moments that unfold naturally too. If I spot something beautiful happening, I might gently guide you with a small adjustment – perhaps asking you to cup her cheek, brush his hair from his eyes, or pull everyone a little closer together.
The goal is never perfection. It’s creating photographs that feel natural, connected and genuinely like your family.

This is one of the number one concerns I hear from families. I have a soft spot for the wild kids who have their own agenda for the day!
Your child doesn’t need to sit still, smile on command or look at the camera for me to create beautiful photographs. My sessions are designed around play, connection and curiosity, giving little ones the freedom to explore, cuddle, run, collect sticks, pick flowers or simply take things at their own pace.
Some of the most meaningful images come from the moments parents worry about the most. So if your child is shy, energetic, strong-willed or somewhere in between, please know they’re already welcome exactly as they are.
Even the families with the most wild, head strong kids have never come away disappointed with their photos.

“Chloe’s communication is amazing, so we set off on our journey on the right foot! She put us at ease instantly when we met on the day of the shoot. She has such a relaxed vibe that you can’t help but be relaxed when in her company! The quality of the photos was just phenomenal - loved the relaxed and natural composition and I loved her editing style too. We got some wonderful photos of our little family to celebrate our youngest turning one, and Chloe captured us in a way that felt authentic - it was us being US, which is exactly what she and I had wanted. We would definitely use Chloe again - 100% recommend!”
