GRAIN & GLOW PHOTOGRAPHY - NEWBORN
Holding on to the newborn days as they unfold - honest, unhurried and full of feeling
OXFORDSHIRE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER
The milk-scented haze of the newborn days.
The newborn days have a way of passing before you’ve quite had time to take them in. One moment they fit entirely against your chest, all soft skin and sleepy stretches, and before long those tiny details begin to change. The days can feel slow while you’re living them, but the season itself is impossibly brief.
Newborn photography is a way of holding onto a little of that fleeting beginning. Not a polished version of it, but the closeness, the quiet and the feeling of finding your way into life together. A chance to slow things down for a while and create something that will carry you back to these first days long after they have passed.
These seasons don’t last forever, and these babies don’t keep, let’s slow time down together.
Newborn photography doesn’t have to mean wrapping your baby into perfect poses or asking you to fit into someone else’s idea of what those first weeks should look like. My newborn sessions weave the honesty of postpartum with the all-consuming love for the new life in your arms. Not a performance, but a balance - allowing you the space to romanticise the beauty in the exhaustion, while staying true to your own version of the fourth trimester.
During our time together, there is no expectation for your baby to do anything at all. We’ll follow their lead, stopping whenever they need to feed, be held, changed or simply take a moment. There is no rush and no pressure to make anything happen before they are ready.
I’ll gently guide you into the light, suggest where to sit or how to hold them, and step in when a little direction is helpful, but I’ll always leave space for the moments that happen naturally. My approach to newborn photography is relaxed and unhurried, allowing your baby to stay exactly where they feel safest - in your arms, against your chest, curled into the place they already know best.
Your session can take place in the comfort of your own home, surrounded by the rooms where these first days are unfolding, or outdoors when the season and weather allow. Wherever we are, the focus is always the same: connection. Together, we’ll create photographs that hold onto the tenderness of this beginning and bring you back to how it felt to be right here, at the very start.

I recommend booking during pregnancy, as soon as you feel comfortable to. We can reserve a provisional space and then adjust if needed once baby arrives.

Unlike traditional posed newborn photography, my approach is relaxed and baby-led, which means there is more flexibility. Many families choose to photograph their baby within the first few weeks, but beautiful newborn sessions can be captured with older babies too. If you’re looking to capture those tender first few weeks, I recommend we pencil in a date for around 2 weeks after your EDD and go from there.

Babies cry. Babies need feeding. Babies need cuddles. That’s all completely normal and built into the pace of the session. There is never any pressure to rush your baby or work to a strict timetable.

“Chloe is incredibly talented! We’ve used her 3 times now to document the most special times in our life and our photos are so beautiful! Chloe is so patient and calm and guides you through the shoot. When we did our newborn shoot our little one was quite unsettled due to colic and I was worried we wouldn’t get any photos of him not crying…somehow Chloe worked her magic and all of the photos are so beautiful!! I’ve recommended all my family and friends to use her. We will always use her for our family photos.”
