Autumnal Outdoor Maternity Photoshoot at Snelsmore Common, Berkshire - Charlie & Josh
Charlie reached out to me towards the end of May to book an outdoor maternity shoot and indoor newborn shoot which I was absolutely thrilled about! Capturing your journey from pregnancy to motherhood is so incredibly special and I pinch myself every time I get to witness this beautiful transition. With Charlie due in November, we decided on late September for her maternity photoshoot as there would still be some warmth in the air and we could hopefully find a backdrop with some rich autumnal colours, and that’s exactly what we did!
I’d heard some amazing things about Snelsmore Common near Newbury - filled with gorgeous purple heather, woodland, tall reaching ferns and even wild ponies! It is also really accessible with lots of car parking and buggy and wheelchair friendly paths. Although I do love my home county of Oxfordshire, every now and then it’s fun our neighbouring areas.
We aimed for golden hour which is my favourite time of day to shoot and though we weren’t blessed with sunshine, the temperature was perfect. The heather which is a vibrant purple in the late summer had started to soften and give way to a richer palette of deep oranges and reds, and with Charlie wanting to grab a few skin-baring shots, these contrasted so gorgeously against her growing bump.
Josh, Charlie’s husband, was an angel and carried around all of the multiple wardrobe changes for both of them and joined Charlie in some of the images with their sweet baby boy in utero. I always encourage partners to get involved in pregnancy photoshoots, to immortalise their last few months of life as just them before it changes forever!
We said our goodbyes feeling so excited that the next time we saw each other, baby boy would be here!
